DSLR Video – The Best Of Both Worlds

When I hear someone say that small chip cameras are better suited for documentary type projects, I beg to differ – and here’s why.

You always have the ability to stop down to increase depth of field with a large sensor camera, yet have the option to go shallow depth of field as needed simply by adding neutral density filters if conditions dictate as such (see at 0:21 sec into the video for a visual example – video by Philip Bloom) .

You don’t have the option of shallow depth of field with traditional video cameras shooting 1/3” or 1/2” sensors.

‘nuff said.
